The Mystic Star Shawl knitalong starts today! Signups will remain open for the duration of the KAL.
SIGN UP FOR KAL
The KAL is over, but the complete pattern is available for purchase here.
Mystic Star is a circular shawl which draws its inspiration from the starry night sky.
There will also be a semicircular version of the shawl available.
It will be distributed to the members in four consecutive pieces, once a week on Mondays, starting January 26.
The last part of the pattern will be released on February 16.
The finished diameter is approximately 130 cm (51”)
My shawl is knit on 3.25 mm needles, using 10/2 Tencel (laceweight) yarn from Yarntopia Treasures (1,050 yds per 4 oz skein) in the Seaweed colourway. The circular shawl uses 1 skein (approx 1,050 yds), and the semicircular shawl uses approx. 1/2 skein (550 yds). The 10/2 Tencel is available on Etsy and on eBay.
As always, yarn substitutions are encouraged.
The swatch pattern has been posted for the Mystic Star KAL. My swatch is knit in Tencel 10/2 from Yarntopia Treasures. It is NOT in the Seaweed colourway which I used for the shawl, but in New York – I had some leftover and used it for the swatch.
Sign-ups for the KAL are closed, but the complete pattern is available for purchase here.
My latest finished object is a Fish Hat from the 2008 Winter issue of Knitty. The yarn is Paton’s Classic Wool Merino – leftovers from the Gryffindor sweater.
The pattern comes in one size only, but is definitely too large for a 3 year old. I will therefore have to modify the pattern and make a smaller one ASAP.
The second Weasley sweater is finished. So now we have a Gryffindor sweater to the left and a Slytherin sweater to the right.
If I knit another one I will be sure to make the sleeves shorter than the pattern calls for. Aside from that, I think they are pretty nice. So do the recipients. They are both wearing their Weasley sweaters today. And of course I immediately got a request for a Hufflepuff sweater as well……
