The Mystic Ice KAL is underway, and some of the knitters have already posted pictures of their partial shawls. Looking at all the pictures has always been one of my favourite parts of the KALs. It’s so much fun to see the various yarns and colours other knitters have chosen, and how they bring out different elements of the design.
This time around, I’m also enjoying looking at the pictures of the triangular shawl. I’m very familiar with the square shawl (since I have one of my own), and of course I know that the triangular shawl is half that. But it’s still fun to see.
I have started knitting another Weasley sweater. This time it will be a Christmas present (shhh!), and I hope it will be ready in time. The problem is that I have very little time to work on it, as the recipient is usually around. But it’s a reasonably quick knit (given the time to do it), so I still have high hopes of finishing.
On the lace-shawl front, I am planning two projects. I have managed to get my hands on some of that elusive yarn called Wollmeise. I have one skein of Rosenrot Lace-Garn that I am planning on turning into a nice, big shawl. The reds are really reminiscent of roses, so the name is well chosen. And with 300 g, I should be able to end up with a large, warm shawl to wrap myself in.
*And* I have some more yarn coming from Yarntopia. This time it will be Tencel 5/2 in Moccassin (Mocha, Rust, Brown, and Chocolate) which will become a shawl. I’m also going to try her bamboo yarns, as well as the Rayon/Tencel blend. There are so many colours, it’s hard to choose, but I think it will be in Emerald, Raindrop, and Olive.
The Autumn Cardigan is still hibernating. I’m still gathering up the courage to pick up Fair Isle knitting again. It will probably be fine, but I did find that it was hard on my fingers even in the first place, and I don’t imagine it will be much better post-injury either. I rather lost my momentum there. I had planned to have it finished in time for the fall colours in October, but…. there’s always next fall.
